About Uganda 2015
I have been privileged with the amazing opportunity to travel to Uganda for four months on a missions trip from April 28 - August 26.
I am currently finishing my third year at Vanguard Bible College, with the aim to graduate next year with a BA in Theology, Intercultural Studies Major and Music Major. Though an internship is required of every student to complete the prerequisites of his/her degree at Vanguard, this internship is so much more. Two years ago, God gave me a vision of me in Uganda, and another one of me teaching music to children in Africa. Now, both of these visions are finally being fulfilled by His will alone.
For the first month that I am in Uganda, I will have the opportunity to serve in an international school right in the heart of Kampala, the capital city. I will help the professors in their music classes as a teacher's assistant, and I will help in any way I can in the school’s chapels. Once June arrives, I will devote myself mainly to two tasks: 1. Helping to host two separate short-term missions teams in Uganda from Canada, which will include helping to run basketball and music camps for children, and 2. Visiting different locations in and around Kampala — the slums, the orphanage, the special needs school, and the villages/upcountry surrounding the city — spending time with children there, teaching them about the good news of Jesus Christ through music.
I am excited to be interning under Cherilyn Orr, a woman of God who has a deep passion for children, finding sustainable ways for families to stay together, rather than parents having to send their children to orphanages. I know I will learn a lot from her knowledge and experiences. I also hope to understand the true meaning of living a missional life, rather than waiting for a missions trip to be missional-minded.
Please pray as me as I go and be a part of God’s work in Uganda. The cost of the trip is approximately $5,000 total. If you cannot provide financially towards my trip, please consider praying for me as I go – both in preparation and on the actual trip.
Ever since God gave me those two visions, I have been looking forward to this moment. I am filled with joy that you can also be a part of God's ministry in Uganda by supporting me in whatever way you choose.
Please remember to pray for me as I continue to prepare for the ways that God will use me on this mission. I cannot stress how much this is needed. I believe that God will do incredible things in these upcoming four months, and I am indebted to your prayers, both now while I prepare my heart and mind, and while I am in Africa teaching children music and about God’s love. Thank you so much for your time reading this. God bless you!
P.S. If you have any questions, or simply want to talk about my trip in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me!
